ISTE 2017 just finished and what an awesome convention.
The weather was lovely, the city is fun, and the people are fantastic! We talked to a lot of people from schools that either already have an AP Lazer machine or that really want one. People loved all of our laser cut and engraved samples that we were handing out, including these super cool glasses.
ISTE 2017 was all about STEAM
And what have we been saying about the AP Lazer machine and STEAM? We’re perfect for it! Check out these articles if you haven’t: Better than a 3D Printer, Put the S in STEAM, Laser Machines for STEAM. Basically what it comes down to is that a laser machine is an absolutely necessary part of any fab lab and AP Lazer is the best value for the money.
“We want an AP Lazer, but how can we afford it?”
This is something we heard a lot over the course of the convention. But it it isn’t as daunting as it seems. First of all, AP Lazer is proud to offer a 10% educational discount.
On top of that, there is the Net-30 option we only allow educational institutions to participate in. This means that you get the machine for 30 days before you have to pay for it. You could potentially pay for the whole machine with a brick fundraiser that you can complete with your AP Lazer. Just did a brick fundraiser? No problem, hold a fundraising event where you engrave stainless steel mugs, team logo paraphernalia, and whatever else you can come up with.
Don’t want to work for it? That’s OK, if someone at your school is good at grant writing then tell them to get on writing in for the Perkins grant. Or check into this Fab School Labs contest which awards $100,000 to five winning schools for a fab lab makeover.
We also did an interview!
Kyle talked to a 9-year-old ed tech reporter to tell her a bit more about the AP Lazer. Go here to read about it and watch the video!
